I realize that this is akin to that "shooting fish in a barrel" metaphor, but I would like to point out to you the rank hypocrisy of Governor Perry of Texas.
I cite three articles that have all appeared in the past couple of weeks.
First, Governor Perry declared his unflagging support for the anti-abortion movement, with the support of a new bill that would mandate … wait for it …an audible ultrasound to be performed on any woman seeking abortion. The ultrasound would have to be performed within two hours of an impending abortion. I assume that's to intimidate women into having their babies. Can we agree on that?
Here's the evidence:
Governor Rick Perry Tuesday announced his support for Senate Bill 182 and House Bill 36, which would require a physician to perform an obstetric ultrasound on a woman at least two hours before a scheduled abortion.
"I am proud of the years we have spent working together to promote a culture of life in our state to strengthen families and protect our children's future," Perry said. "Although we've made Texas a safer place for the unborn, our work is far from done, which is why I support these pieces of legislation as simple, common sense additions to the protections we offer the unborn here in Texas."
So, Governor GoodHair, as he's known to his friends, also declared TODAY that he was rejecting $556 million of the stimulus plan that would have increased Texas unemployment benefits. He cited the usual reasons for turning it down; namely, after the federal money runs out, the state won't be able to afford it.
Gov. Rick Perry, joining a handful of his fellow Southern Republican leaders, said Thursday that he was rejecting $556 million in federal stimulus money for unemployed Texans because it had too many strings attached.

Gov. Rick Perry, in the Texas House in January, said Thursday: 'We can take care of our- selves. And we do not need any more strings from Washington attached to programs.'
He said the federal provisions would require unprecedented changes in state rules on who is eligible for unemployment payments. He also argued that the funds – which Democrats say would update benefits so that more women, elderly and student workers could qualify – would place additional burdens on businesses, leaving them to pay the added costs when the federal money ran out.
Now, here's the kicker. Do you know which state has the highest rate of child homelessness in the nation? Well, yes. It is Texas. Seems Texas, that big state that can afford to pay for mandatory ultrasounds on embryos/fetuses, cannot afford to house and feed the real, live children that live on its streets.
I'll just cite a little bit of that:
Rise in number of homeless children in Texas is straining resources, study says
From staff and wire reports
The All Church Home for Children’s emergency youth shelter has housed more than three times as many homeless children this year as in the same period last year, officials say. And the Fort Worth agency’s program for homeless single mothers and their children is not only full, but counselors are at a loss to find other programs for referrals.
"Right now, the perception is that everyone is full with a waiting list," said Barbara Clark-Galupi, vice president of marketing for the children’s home. "These are families who have never been homeless and all of a sudden have a crisis, and it is very hard right now to find a place for them."
The lack of options is not unique to Dallas-Fort Worth. A study by the National Center on Family Homelessness released Tuesday placed Texas last of all states in how homeless children fare.
The ranking considered four areas: the percentage of homeless children; their overall well-being; risk factors for homelessness, such as poverty and foreclosure rates; and how the state is addressing the problems.
Okay. Here's what we take from this:
Governor Perry loves the unborn babies SO MUCH he's willing to spend money to save them.
Governor Perry does not want to get stuck for the bill for increased unemployment benefits.
AND, Governor Perry's state is a national disgrace in its treatment of homeless children (many who are on the street because their parents are unemployed.)
Put these all together and what do you have?
Governor Perry hates children, also the unemployed and homeless. But he loves unborn babies so much, he's willing to mistreat women who are seeking abortions. So, I guess we can add, Governor Perry hates women to that list, too.
