Today, I'm glad I don't live in Arizona.
According MSNBC, the Arizona State House today approved a bill that, among other things
would require a 24-hour waiting period before a woman could terminate a pregnancy. During that time, the woman would have to be told "the probable anatomical and physiological characteristics" of the unborn child at that point.
Even better, when Arizona lawmakers were asked about the bill,
Rep. Frank Antenori, R-Tucson, said there is "a duty to protect either our wives or our daughters from making decisions that may come back to haunt them further down the road in their lives."
Fuck you, Rep. Frank Antenori, R-Tucson. I do not need you, or anyone else, protecting me from my decisions.
Are you going to tell me that I can't decide what job to take, where to live, what clothes to wear, because I might later regret these decisions?
Essentially, what you said is that women cannot be trusted with their own decisions. However much thought they've put into it, whatever the current circumstances of their lives that lead into the choice they've made, a woman's decision will be wrong. She will regret it. We should defer to the men in out lives, or hell, the men NOT in our lives, like you, the politicians, because you know better than we do what is right for us.
Republicans like to claim that Democrats promote socialism, that they'll turn this country into a nanny state, they'll control your health care, your money. But when it comes to a woman's body, a woman's life? Sure the government can control that.
Rep. Frank Antenori, you don't deserve this country.
