The Heritage Foundation, as many of you know, is a right-wing think tank that is a big supporter of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, neo-conservative ideas and everything we Kossacks are against. They sent me a fundraising letter yesterday, and it quoted Kos.
I have no idea how I got it (I've donated money in the past to charities and candidates through ActBlue, but never to any conservative group). Here's what they quoted from Kos:
... we have an imperative to take advantage of a historic opportunity to break the conservative movement's backs and crush their spirits. In the White House, that means getting Obama a broad popular and geographic mandate for change. In the House, that means annihilating the Republican caucus and working toward a 100-seat Democratic majority. In the Senate, it means getting to a 60-seat filibuster proof majority.
That's actually from one of my favorite posts kos has ever written. What I take from this Heritage Foundation letter -- they're scared. Here's some of the most ridiculous propaganda in the letter:
If (the left) has their way, we will surrender in the war against radical Islam, giving terrorists free rein around the world and eventually here at home.
Do they really believe this stuff? I've never met anyone on the left that wants the terrorists to win.
And there's a large group of celebrities -- from Sean Penn to Barbara Streisand -- and pundits and would-be experts like Bill Moyers and Michael Moore, who spread their poison at every opportunity to an audience of hundreds of millions.
Seriously, as much as we love him, how many people know who Bill Moyers is? He hosts a show on Friday nights on PBS. And do any of those people have audiences of hundreds of millions? Isn't there only like 300 million people in this country? Wow, the right-wingers really are crazy.
We have ongoing partnerships with talk-show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, getting our research and our ideas out to a larger public than ever before.
So Rush is the leader of the Republican Party after all. And research? What research shows that tax cuts and starting wars are the answer to everything?
I've known that these conservative groups are deluded, but sometimes, it takes visual proof to really see how crazy they are. They're scared of us. We should give them something to be scared about, by working to pass EFCA and build on expanding our Democratic majorities even more in 2010.
