A couple weeks ago we were asked to contact our representatives about Rush Limbaugh's comment that he wanted President Obama to fail. Would our republican congresspeople condemn such hateful speech directed to the United States of America - and while we're at war??? There was no question that he intended for the USA to fail if it would bring political power back to republicans.
I called my republican congresswoman Ms. Judy Biggert that day. I asked specifically if she would condemn Rush's comments. Her staff claimed that they had not seen Rush's quote, even though it had been played by MSM all day, every day the whole previous weekend. And they claimed that they could not condemn Rush Limbaugh for saying he wanted our president, and by implication our country, to fail because they had not heard him make the statement.
I received a letter from Ms. Biggert today, and she still refuses to say that Rush is wrong.
She wrote instead:
"Thank you for contacting me regarding radio host Rush Limbaugh's address to the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) on March 1, 2009.
Let me be very clear about my position: I want President Obama to succeed. Nothing could be more important than getting this country back on track - not politics, not partisanship, and not winning the next election. I will vote with the President when I think he's right for my constituients and against him when I think he's wrong.
As for Rush Limbaugh, he does not speak for me - and that's no secret.
Again, thanks for contacting me. Please do not hesitate ..."
Nice letter, but note that Republican Representative from IL Judy Biggert still refuses to condemn Rush Limbaugh when he says that he wants the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, to fail.
