(Excuse the short diary as I make fun of conservatives)
RAWR!!!
WAPO:
Wall Street got the news it wanted on the economy's biggest problems -- banks and housing -- and responded with a rally that hurtled the Dow Jones industrials up nearly 500 points.
Investors added rocket fuel Monday to a two-week-old advance, cheering the government's plan to help banks remove bad assets from their books and also welcoming a report showing a surprising increase in home sales. Major stock indicators surged more than 6 percent, including the Dow.
You know what this means, right? The economy is turning around, unemployment will decrease, and we will all feely fuzzy and warm. Has anyone seen Fox today? How are they reporting on all of this? I assume they are thanking Obama for saving the world, after blasting him for (supposedly) ruining it in the past few weeks.
Seriously though, I hope today, including the data on rising home sales, signals better news for the rest of 2009. This economy ubersucks. There are people living in tent cities for effing sake. It's nice to Wall Street rally, but I hope the rest of the nation follows quickly as well. Until then, lacking better alternatives, I will entertain myself by mocking the idiots at Fox.
Carry on.
