I've been playing around with the first letters of the Obama agenda, trying to come up with a catchy acronym. So far I've failed, so I am asking for help. Can you come up with something? If so, please leave a comment. If I get a few good ones, I'll add a poll.
When I was a kid, then-president Gerald Ford started a campaign called Whip Inflation Now (known as "WIN") that never got very far. We wore WIN buttons, but I don't recall anybody being aware of what wearing a button would do to stop inflation.
I really, really wanted to whip inflation, but the only money I had was my lunch money, not counting the two years we were on the free lunch program. I also didn't know what inflation was, so I was powerless over its evil. I felt so ...helpless. Bad inflation! Bad!
I still cry. If only I could have done more...
What a pleasure to now have a focused, competent "man with a plan" as President of the United States. Only those who have been hiding under a rock the past few weeks are unaware that President Obama has a specific agenda: Energy, Healthcare, Education, and Deficit Reduction.
Obama's agenda is much more concrete than Ford's, and easier to understand. It also, if implemented, will have real, measurable effects in the lives of all Americans.
It's already affecting positive change in my own extended family. Thanks to the recent improvements in Cobra and unemployment compensation programs, my brother-in-law will not be moving in with us! WIN! WIN! WIN!
So, I am a believer. I see the changes working and I'm looking forward to more. But - I have no acronym! We need an acronym. What are we going to call the Obama agenda? My lapel looks so naked without a button.
I've thought of HEARD (Healthcare, Energy and education, And Reducing the Deficit.
Frankly, my idea for the Obama plan acronym sucks. What's your idea?
