UPDATE: Another explosive eruption of Redoubt volcano occurred at 7:23 PM local time, sending ash 45,000 feet above sea level. Seismicity is still quite elevated.
Mount Redoubt exploded again at around 3:40 PM local time. This time it sent a plume of ash up to about 35,000 feet. Winds aloft carried the ash plume northeast to Anchorage, which is 100 miles NE of Mt. Redoubt. We could see the dark grey cloud to the south, and about 30 minutes ago I could smell a strong sulfur odor outside.
I got the doggies inside and all the windows and doors sealed.
