The writers and producers of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are domestic terrorists, in my opinion. I include links to their cartoon, South Park Margaritaville, thanks.
I think it is common knowledge that President Obama has been compared to Jesus, such as the right wing calling him the "messiah". The most recent South Park Episode, Margaritaville, written and produced by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, is a terror attack on our President, I watched this episode in horror as the words, "Jew", "Young Jew", and "Kill the Jew" were broadcast on this Comedy Central cartoon. The comparison of Obama to Jesus is unmistakable, as this show focuses on our economy and President Obama's call to put confidence in our stock market and economy. This show is beyond a disgrace, it seems to me that this episode is calling for the assassination of our President, as "kill the Jew" is one of the key offensive phrases in this episode, while at the end of the show Trey Parker and Matt Stone even show a photograph of our President, and say his name; I included the last third of the show in my links to prove that I didn't just imagine the President's picture and his name being shouted at the end.
Now, I am not a regular viewer of South Park, but I do understand that this show is supposed to have shock value. Yes, I think shock value and parody can serve a purpose in humor,it can make us think deeply about issues and highlight the absurdities in life, particularly political life.
.
But what happens when comedy actually fosters hatred and violence? Is it really acceptable to write and produce a show that shouts out "Jew" and "Kill the Jew", all the while making an implied reference to our President?
Is it acceptable to call for violence against our President, even in jest?
Now if South Park had written the show and left it to the viewer to decide if this was a parody of the Presidency of Barack Obama, perhaps they might be able to escape indictment by me and others, but the outrageous and blatant picture of our President and the mention of his name at the end of this cartoon leaves no doubt that the intent of the writers and producers of this episode was to direct our attention to Barack Obama, our President.
Since when is it acceptable or even legal to make threats, even in the name of parody, comedy, or shocking humor, against the President of the United States?
I think it is an act of terror, one we cannot ignore or condone, or worse, laugh at.
