Accountability Now - are you out there?
Here are the names of the 24 Democrats that just voted with the banks and Wall Street against American homeowners who need relief in the foreclosure crisis:
Arcuri, Berry, Boren, Boucher, Bright, Carney, Childers, Dahlkemper, Davis (TN), Edwards (TX), Ellsworth, Gordon (TN), Griffith, Hill, Holden, Kind, Kissell, Kratovil, Markey (CO), Massa, Matheson, Stupak, Taylor, and Teague.
Some of these are usual suspects who vote with Wall Street against Main Street all the time, others are supposed Netroots favorites like Massa and Kissell. NOT ONE MORE DIME. Let them hoover up campaign cash from Wall Street, but can we in the grassroots/netroots please be done with them?
I am celebrating that the House Democratic leadership did what it had to do to pass the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act today, and I am thrilled we got 7 Republicans to vote for it. But more than anything I am profoundly pissed off that 24 Democrats voted with Wall Street against lifting the ban on judicial modifications and helping perhaps a million families save their homes.
Now all eyes turn to the Senate, where NINE Democrats screwed us on this in 2008. Of course, that was a different world, before the mortgage mess led to the collapse of the credit markets and our economy, before another million Americans lost their homes, and before we thoroughly destroyed the GOP in last fall's election with a Presidential candidate who was strongly in favor of this provision. Will it be enough?
