I suppose I have to rouse myself from my sleepin' in revery at some point to post this week's diary. (Yo, with 3 kids, making it to 8 a.m. in a minor miracle.)
As usual, here's our intro paragraph from drbloodaxe:
The premise is simple. I'll post a weekly review diary around 10-11 EST Saturdays, wherein we all share our experiences over the last week in getting in better shape physically. Nutition and exercise are the most likely subjects of comment, but we want to know (if you're willing to share) your start weight and goals if you're trying to lose weight, or your BMI, or your starting exercise plan and goal, or however else you're measuring your progress. The more of us supporting each other there are, the more likely each of us is to meet our own individual goals, or so we hope ;)
How are you doing? What's your favorite method of measuring success? One of the members of our Healthy Kossacks team over at Spark People is having amazing success with pants. (As in, she can tell she's making stupendous progress, because she's fitting into smaller and smaller pants!) I recently heard about the belt method. (The belt gets tighter!) Maybe you've gotten favorable comments. Here's another one--I always walk or bike to get my kids from school. I recently realized that it's taking me less time to get there. My brisk walk and brisk biking are faster than they used to be. Maybe you're lifting heavier weights. Maybe you're now the star of your soccer team (hey, we can all dream).
Another question for you... what are your goals? I mean both big goals (for the year) and little goals. My big goal was to lose 15 pounds and increase my fitness. I have some little goals along the way... I'm running in a 5K next weekend, and I'd like to do it in under 30 minutes. I'm running in the Bolder Boulder, and I'd like to do it in under 60 minutes. I have various running mileage goals, too. I may or may not meet these goals, but I feel like I have things to work on. The bigger ones I can break into manageable chunks.
And last question of the inquisition... do you feel that any changes that you've made to your diet are now permanent? I've been workin' workin' workin' on eating fruits and veggies as often as I force them onto my kids. (It's that "good example" thing.) It's feeling a little more automatic, but still work.
Let us know how you're doing in the comments.
