Conservatives
I am glad for Captain Phillips and his family, that he has been saved by Navy seals.
First of all, I have zero sympathy for the pirates, if you live by the sword, you live with the consequences, espically when trying to heist a ship full of food aid.
For the last few days, we have had criticism of the President, and his silence on the kidnapping, which is unfair, because we all know, if he had said anything, it would have only complicated the talks between the FBI and the pirates.
Being President doesn't mean you have to give an instant response to every news event, that occurs, sometimes it means keeping quiet, and letting events unfold, before having to make that call. I am assuming at some stage, the President had to give the green light to the operation, and was told before hand, the consequences of any rescue attempt.
It is one thing for Newt to mouth off and declare that he would send Jack Bauer in, but Newt being Newt, doesn't really think things through. In the last 48 hours, the French Navy had to operate a similiar rescue, involving for 5 french nationals, which resulted in one of the hostages dying in the rescue attempt.

Personally, Conservatives, have been on their knees, praying for a bad outcome, that way, it gives them another reason to attack the President. Limbaugh wants the nation to fail, in this case, Conservatives are happy with one dead man.
Already in red state, you can sense the disappointment, the President is getting zero credit, and to be honest, the President probably feels the same, the only thing on his mind, was getting Phillips back in one piece, without the need to provoke a response from the pirates.
