This is immensely gratifying!
I recently posted two diaries about Pepperdine University's Professor Robert G. Kaufman's statement that:
If I had to recommend one single thing that the Republicans should be doing to help articulate the message, it is to acquire another television network so that there is not just FOX....
I thereafter sent "tips" to Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, and MediaMatters, among others, about the statement, linking my first diary. Soon thereafter, independent links to that diary, and a YouTube clip of Kaufman, courtesy of Kossack tbetz, were proliferating on the blogosphere.
Yesterday, I wrote to Professor Kaufman requesting clarification or elaboration. Our exchange is memorialized in my second diary. But there's more: Professor Kaufman now has the distinction of being at the top of Keith Olbermann's Countdown's "Best Persons in the World" for April 14, 2009, as the number one "Best Confession".
Meet me below the fold for the...
...Countdown link.
(If someone more skilled than I can embed the Countdown screen link, please do!)
Professor Kaufman is the author of In Defense of the Bush Doctrine: Moral Democratic Realism and American Grand Strategy, and he made the statement at the 61st Annual Conference on World Affairs, as part of a panel presentation entitled Rebranding Republicans: Don't Misunderestimate Us, recorded by and broadcast on C-SPAN.
This is an immensely gratifying result because I've been a little late to the blogosphere party, and this was the clearest demonstration I've personally experienced of the power of this site, blogs, and viral videos.
Hooray for the Internets!
