For those of you interested, The National Political Do Not Contact Registry has obtained an audio file of the Tea Party Robocalls that have been blanketing the country for the past week or so.
UPDATE: Is this the guy behind the robocalls?
The National Political Do Not Contact Registry is a non-partisan organization which has as it's mission the ability for all voters, regardless of party affiliation, to opt out of the insidious and ever more prevalent political and advocacy Robocalls.
The Tea Party robocalls, unfortunately, are simply an example of how groups, from all political persuasions, are turning to using robo calls to attempt to get the word out.
In fact, the dirty little secret from 2008 was not that McCain was "exposed" for using robo calls to highlight the Obama / Ayers "relationship" but that robocalls are now, according to PEW, the top form of congressional direct campaign communications; surpassing direct mail.
Robocalls became so prevelant in 2008 that SNL did a skit on Weekend Update with a new character "Robocall".
Here is the SNL robocall skit.
