Where there's "smoke" there always fire. Another, make that the third lawsuit of gays verse gays saga was filed in Polish courts today in the past few months. A watershed has burst. However before writing about that let's refresh readers with some background history. The Polish gay movement in the recent past has faced-off against extremist from the radical right and survived brutal ultra conservative governments. The environment since 2007 had calmed until the discovery of alleged falsified archived court documents signed by Poland's most outspoken gay activist Robert Biedron, president and founder of "Campaign Against Homophobia." This Polish government's lawsuit ( Page 2) supported rumors within the community of Biedron's monopoly of the gay agenda since 2005. As the document shows the presiding officer of " Equality Foundation" at the executive council meeting was Robert Biedron.
The conflict surrounding the document filed in court according to Polish laws centers around a vote taken to remove Szymon Niemiec from the board of directors of the foundation. This vote would have been legitimate for removal from the sub-committe except that Niemiec didn't resign and is creator of the "Equality Parade," established in 2001. Robert Biedron is no stranger to controversy in 2004 he accepted an award and pocketed 10,000 Euros from the "Christopher Street Day" non-profit for founding "Equality Parade." After several individuals contacted the CSD of Berlin committee Biedron's name as a "recipient" of the honor was removed from their website.Szymon Niemiec founded "Equality Parade" in 2001. Biedron approached Niemiec in 2005 and suggested that Poland's three LGBT association join efforts and co-found an entity to raise funds for and cooperate in the annual "Equality Parade" festival. The three Polish LGBT associations, Lambda Warsaw, "Campaign Against Homophobia" 9Biedron president) and "ILGCN Polska" (Niemiec president) agreed to create `Equality Foundation." The foundation and parade were stolen from Szymon Niemeic and ILGCN Polska by Biedron and his associates as reported here.
This week Polish courts accepted journalist.blogger "
Ryszard M." (Richard) petition for relief against "
Campaign Against Homophobia"in another startling development against "
professional gay activist"
Robert Biedron. Richard alleges defamation and slander against Biedron in the court case.
This bring the total to
three petitions against Biedron and his accomplices. Download Richard’s legal brief in its
original form (Polish.)
Robert Biedron filed a
lawsuit against gay editor
Jack Adler; And let us not forget the
Polish government’s lawsuit (Pages 10-15) filed last month against "
Equality Foundation" where
Robert Biedron serves as an executive officer.
Biedron's "
dirty" fingerprints are everywhere reminiscent of the Communist regime filled with allegations of corruption and character assassinations. Richard worked for the popular "
GayLife.pl" web portal and write some but not all investigative reports about
Robert Biedron" and his activities.
The "
crux" of this narrative is that in some of the reportage dating back to 2005 Biedron and the organization which he founded "
Campaign Against Homophobia" have refused to release their detailed financial papers for review publicly.
Ironically, these details will become public when the court trails start - it won't be a nice discovery by the
LGBT community. According to the information we've been presented Biedron and his entourage of associates have utilized public grants from the European Union to enrich themselves with no benefits to the
LGBT community. Amazingly, until recently no one challenged the legitimacy of "
Campaign Against Homophobia" or "
Equality Foundation."
Robert Biedron and his friends were masterful alienating and diving the gay community. Many suspected but no one complained out of fear of retaliation.
In our opinion an we are unanimous in it, the unfortunate level of discourse within the Polish gay community was created by Robert Biedron in his attempt to swindle the sympathize "
westerns" of funds and support after Poland entered the
European Union in 2004. Prior to that he and those like him reigned
unchallenged and
unchecked because of two things:
1. There was very little information about the gay situation and the key operatives available for westerners to evaluate.
2. The predisposition of Polish society's mentalities filled with fears of opposition to those in power and with funding.
Those days are hopefully ending in the forthcoming court disclosures. We applaud gay journalist "
Richard M.," and "
Jacek Adler," for standing up for transparency and truth.
It is our aim to aide them and emerging young gay activist who desire better futures for themselves and their LGBT sisters and brothers. They cannot achieve this alone without our support, friendships, voices and of course funding.
Indeed we are all angels with only one wing and require each other to soar and fly.
