Breaking --- Defense Secretary Gates, a Republican holdover from the prior administration, a former CIA Director stated essentially that the methods used -- much of which has already been released will eventually become public whether we like it or not.

Let's go people -- it's time to push another one on the airwaves to remind America once again that Cheney is a fool.
In regards to concerns over how our enemies would use the memos to encourage a backlash and serve as a recruiting tool for Al-Qaeda, Gates mentioned that "inevitability" of the information coming out as well as stating that's it's too "unrealistic" to keep such memos secret.
Especially noteworthy is how Gates mentioned the following:
"The things that I was concerned about was first and foremost the protection of the CIA officers who were involved in the interrogations and who performed their duties in accordance with the legal guidance that they had been given by the Justice Department. I wanted to make sure, I felt strongly, the importance that they be protected."
I guess this was in response to Wolfowitz and Rummy blamming low-level Army officers of making the decision themselves to commit the abuses at Abu Ghraib in order to protect their own arses..
This all makes me ponder as to what is the true reason behind Dick Cheney's weekly blasts at Obama blaming him for not keeping the country safe and our running our ecnomomy amock. Especially on the topic of the memos; wouldn't Cheney, like Gates hold the practical view that such memos are bound to come out no matter what the circumstances.
Some of us may argue that Cheney does not want to be put on trial however then again he may be immune to any legal jeopardy but is that true? Another group may argue that the former V.P. is in denial and holds all of his opines to be fact after constant repitition.
However, I remember hearing Amy Goodman's guest on Democracy now, Seymour Hersh - writer for the New Yorker discuss sources quoting Cheney prior to Obama becoming President that "He will never make it in the major leagues," and telling Israeli government officials that Obama is Pro-Palestinian.
This all leads me to believe that Cheney still has an agenda. I'm not trying to conspire through inspiration of a 24 episode but it strikes me that Cheney still resides very close to D.C. (in Virginia) and chooses to involve himself in destruction politics after leaving office.
