I happen to be one of those "rare individuals" who is a citizen of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States and yes even the European Union. Because of that, politics will often get very confusing because what is deemed appropriate for one Nation is not appropriate for another.
Being home in the United Kingdom, and I do consider the UK to be my home, I am often looked at as the resident expert to explain what is happening with regard to politics on your side of the pond.
Bill Maher has just given myself an explanation that can be easily understood on both sides of the pond!!
Bill describes the Republicans in terms of divorce;
Look, I get it, "real America." After an eight-year run of controlling the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court, this latest election has you feeling like a rejected husband. You've come home to find your things out on the front lawn -- or at least more things than you usually keep out on the front lawn. You're not ready to let go, but the country you love is moving on. And now you want to call it a whore and key its car.
Bill also points out the "big issues" and I am happy to report that they happen to be the same on both sides of the pond!
Here are the big issues for normal people: the war, the economy, the environment, mending fences with our enemies and allies, and the rule of law.
The US and the UK, two great countries separated only by language. ;)
And for the Dr. Who update? Go to the BBC. "Planet of the Dead" was great and it will be available at Amazon.co.uk in June. You can buy from Amazon UK in the USA and play it on a hacked DVD player. Just do a web search. Cheers!!
