I know its become the famous picture for the conservative pundits and even MSNBC and CNN. I wasnt surprised to see the picture of Obama shaking and laughing with Chavez on TV again today. But the Media have all refused to tell the American populace the truth. Maybe they have no idea or have simply conspired to deny it, but there is a reason behind embracing Chavez. America is trying to save itself from its own policies. He did the right thing for America and not for Venezuela. America needs Venezuela more than Venezuela needs America and i will tell you why.
Following BBC News site, there was a declaration of a Presidential election victory today and its not in South Africa
Ecuador's President Rafael Correa has claimed victory in the country's election after two exit polls indicated he had more than 50% of the vote.
Rafael Correa just won re-election after implementing his various socialist agenda. Not far from this country in the Latin America hemisphere is the new President of Bolivia, who recently survived an assassination attempt on his life. Even before this, Evo Morales expelled the US ambassador from the country, joined forces with Chavez and spoke at length on his election on DemocracyNow with Goodman and in 2008, the opposition caved in when he declared the state of emergency.
Bolivian President Evo Morales and opposition governors from rich eastern regions have agreed on steps to resolve the country's political crisis. The governor of the natural gas-rich Tarija province said he would sign a deal on issues to be discussed, on behalf of other rebel governors. They agreed to the talks despite the arrest of a northern governor. Wealthy eastern areas have opposed Mr Morales' left-wing reforms, sparking violent anti-government protests. Last week, Mr Morales declared a state of emergency in the northern region of Pando, where at least 16 people have been killed in anti-government protests.
Next come Ortega, who famously bombarded Obama in his recent America's summit. There was no doubt that Obama had to do something about Cuba before the summit of the Americas. He could have waited to lift the traveling restrictions after the Summit, but he needed to reach out to them because he knows that we need them.Cuba is gaining sufficient grounds and forming new alliances or strengthening old one like the Russia trip to Cuba.
A group of Russian warships is to visit Cuba for the first time since the Soviet era, the Russian navy has said. The visit, scheduled for 19-22 December, will be led by the destroyer Admiral Chabanenko. Recently the ship took part in joint manoeuvres with Venezuela and became the first Russian vessel to navigate the Panama Canal since World War II. The naval activities are being seen as an attempt by Moscow to strengthen its influence in the region. Cuba's revolutionary leadership was closely allied to the Soviet Union (USSR) during the Cold War, but relations have weakened since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. There have recently been attempts to revive ties. Russia was the first country to send humanitarian aid to Cuba after two major hurricanes this year, and the two countries signed major trade deals in November.
Then comes Chavez, the President who has succeeded to pass a referendum to stay in power like the British prime minister for life against all the US opposition. The country removed its ambassador to the US after the Israeli bombardment of Gaza drawing praises from unlike source like the President of Iran. Recently, the GOP railed on the house floor pending an election in Latin America, which the party of interest eventually lost.
Obama saw the writing on the Wall. US power in Latin America is deteriorating. The only ally Bush seems to ever had was Columbia, yet the free trade was never passed. Columbia having bent its knees to the US govt is now at a cross-road of whats next. Even a Columbia reporter asking Gibbs a question as her voice vibrates about the Columbia free trade, acknowledged that she knows the relationship with Columbia is not going to be like before. Afterall its obvious the hard-headed leaders seem to have won their battle to force US alignment to their side.
Now Obama is trying to save US before the Empire collapses by its own walls and policies. Regardless of what Americans think (majority of who supports his Latin American policies), Obama was destined to reunite the US with Latin America because he knows better than everyone that We Need Them more than they NEED us.
