I have tendonitis and a connectivce tissue disorder. Tonight I am experimenting with typing on this computer for an extended period of time. I am trying a basic new therapy of ibuprofen to see if it impacts my pain level while typing.
This is a chronic pain diary. I want to communicate some of my experiences with others out there and get some feedback. Why not?
Usually I am very slow to seek "help". And I am not really doing so this evening. This is pretty much just sharing and seeing how long my body will accommodate typing without shutting down.
I have experienced twenty one years of near debilitating chronic pain. Undiagnosed until recently, I search far and wide for solutions to my problems.
It may be that Ibuprofen is the answer in the end, and the joke is on me.
I have studied meditation, yoga, tai qi, qi gong, acquired a masters degree in acupuncture, studied acupressure, shamanism, reiki, received chiropractic treatments, massage, herbal medicine and so on.
Nothing has worked. But I have a sneaking suspicion that Ibupofren, combined with everything I have practiced and learned over the past fifteen years especially, will finally help me to regain the function of my body.
Exercise also is key. To go from full time athlete to near loss of usage of hands was an emotional shock. A knee injury also kept me from jogging, so my body pretty much shut down.
Now I've discovered stationary biking (together with long walks). Exertion is very important to maximize healing.
But the problem I have had is putting all of the pieces of the self rehab puzzle together into a system that works for me. Something I can monitor in terms of daily progress.
I have to deprogram my "I can't do this" programs as I work through pain to generate increased function in my body.
I am also over my distrust of the Western Medical Establishment. I acknowledge they are good at some things (like creating Ibuprofen).
As I write this I don't feel the usual burning in my forearms from typing. My breathing is better. But my back aches. I am 41 years old. I need to generate some quality of life soon.
My doctor, beyond recommending Ibuprofen, has not had much to offer me per the chronic pain other than the diagnosis.
Anyway, I look forward to positive feedback or random commentary.
