Over the last several years, there have been numerous articles regarding the state of liberals being akin to battered women's syndrome.
And we were astonished at the accuracy of the analogy. The pain of being smacked in the face and then being told that we were unfaithful if we detested the action. The severe self doubt that we all had over weather we were right or wrong to have rebellious thoughts. We pushed against our restrictions and were met with even greater scruitiny until we finally bloodied his nose during a severe beating.
We found out that we were stronger than we thought and realized it was time to pack up and leave. We could do it. We just needed to believe in ourselves and finally head out the door.
And as we shed our "learned helplessness" together, we are seeing all the telltale signs of a man whimpering over his loss. First he tells her that she can't possibly make it on her own in an attempt to get her to doubt herself. He may call her names, or tell everyone some fabricated tale about how crazy she is, hoping to convince others of his case. Then he eventually apologizes for all his wrongdoing in an attempt to win her back and start the cycle anew.
Ladies and Gentlemen, We have reached that phase. Or we are at least seeing the beginnings of it. Be prepared for an all out sobfest in the near future as the GOP continues to buckle under it's own stupidity. There will be the usual drones among them that will begin to share the regret of their past behavior and try to convince themselves that they can change for the better. They will slowly but surely become remarkably amiable and docile as they seek to draw in newer and more youthful voters. They will be forced to pick from those who were either already duped or were too young and inexperienced to really understand their modus operandi. And the only way to prevent this is to expose the republican agenda all the way to it's core.
If we really want to deal the final blow to the GOP, we have to call it what it is: The party of self-serving, irresponsible ideologists that think belief itself will overcome any problem, thereby justifying inaction and ignorance. They truly think that saying something is so makes it so. They have a systematic policy of rewarding incompetency and inaction in state, corporate and private affairs. And we must also recognize who controls it: Self-serving greedy corporate tycoons that need a voter base to push their agenda forward. Any voter base will do, even if it means praying on those that stand no chance of benefiting from your platform by simply appealing to their fears and misconceptions. They are the forces that drive virtually zero logical sense and selfish impulses into the political arena. That's right - Government is the problem unless you control it. Then you can use big government to invade people's bodies bedrooms, and countries while orchestrating massive financial giveaways in the background. And they conveniently hide these intentions behind the veil of civil liberty.
With tales wagging, they try to convince folks that all people are well intentioned individuals that will gladly contribute to make society much better than the government can. And they'll continue preach the weak argument that individuals are more effective at spending money than the government is. They'll insist that the indigent have actively chosen to be inferior, and aren't simply down-and-out due to failing economic policies. It will be some giant half-truth that uses a barely reasonable (if that) assumption to purvey the selfish intent of putting yourself before others. Because that way, you can always do what you want instead of occasionally doing what's right. And they'll continue to play on belief, fear, and misconceptions to promote issues that typically have nothing to do with current events.
The time has come to turn our backs on these methods and ideas once and for all. We have to realize our strength here. If they don't want to take our hands when we are willing to reach out, then let them suffer the consequences. We may have recently packed up and left, but we can't be wooed by eventual bipartisan attempts that lead us to believe that the republicans have changed their ways. I also strongly believe that they way forward is to start recruiting republicans by using the same strategies that they have used for years. Kind of like Dean's 50 state strategy. Don't just recruit in places you are strong, recruit in places that you aren't. Now that we are free of the house of horror, we may be better able to convince others never to visit such a place. By doing so, we may be able to finally leave an empty apology to wither and die all alone.
