Hey everyone,
I'm a trying to attend Netroots Nation and I need your help! I'm one of the 100 or so people trying to get a scholarship through Democracy for America as I can't otherwise afford to go. There are many deserving people, but I think my background, ideas and experience places me in excellent position to go. I'll describe why below, but first let me say how you can help me or any others you'd wish.
All you have to do is go to Democracy for America's scholarship page. There, you can survey everyone's page and see who you think is worthy. My page is here. If you think someone deserves a scholarship, you just have to click "add your support" on their page. The more supporters one has, they more likely they are to win.
Who I am.
My name's Ryan Adams. You can find lots more about me about me on my scholarship page, but here's a few highlights:
I'm from Massachusetts. I went to state schools throughout my life, K-College, studying Political Science in the latter. I've been hooked on politics since I was very, very little. I'm proud to live in the first state in the country that would let someone like me marry.
I run state and local campaigns for a living - if you can call it that - which makes me incredibly proud, as I've help put several very good progressives into office -- and their effects have been tangible.
I'm exceptionally active in the Massachusetts blogosphere and netroots. I run a state politics blog, Ryan's Take, which typically ranks in the top 5 on BlogNetNew's Massachusetts liberal blog influence index. I comment incessantly at the most popular Massachusetts state politics blog, BlueMassGroup. I also co-host and produce the state's only weekly progressive podcast, LeftAhead. There, we interview almost all state rep and senate open seats in the Metro area. We also bring on experts on glbt issues, media, public transportation and a whole host of other issues important to the people of our state.
Moreover, my netroots activism focuses on bringing others into the movement. I'm one of the leaders of BlogLeft Massachusetts, the coalition of lefty bloggers in the state. I plan and host blogger events across the state -- from our now-annual Netroots workshop at the yearly Massachusetts Democratic State Convention to various congressional and statewide debates we've co-sponsored, such as a health-care specific debate for US Rep in the 6th district in '06 in which all democratic candidates attended.
If anyone has any questions, please ask. I appreciate any support!
All you have to do to help is go to my scholarship page, sign up or log in to DFA and click "add your support." I can't go and meet you all at Netroots Nation without your support!
Thanks,
Ryan
