I mean, the guy is Bush/Cheney light.
He's no better than a Republican. A Republicrat, I think we call them around here.
Or a corporatocrat.
Whatever you call him, he's a failure, and it's time to start looking for a Democratic challenger.
You don't have to look very far to find multitudes writing off the Obama presidency. "Change we can believe in!" they harumph (much as Republicans, with such obvious satisfaction, declare at nearly every turn). "This is not what I voted for!"
Let me be the first to say, if this is how you really feel, then let's see the proof in the pudding. Start advocating openly for primarying President Obama. Name names.
Who can we trust to be more progressivethan Pres. Obama has been, and who can we trust to not disappoint us...ever.
Now, I cherish dissent, and am glad to see people call Pres. Obama out on his mistakes. And there will be mistakes.
I just would like to see a little honesty: if you really think Obama is no better than Bush/Cheney -- or not better enough -- then there's no time like the present to begin thinking about who would do a better job. And to start planning for how to make that happen
Have at it.
UPDATE: This is kind of beside the point, but Bill Maher is on fire tonight:
Torture. That is the story that just won't go away in this country. And now with Nancy Pelosi right in the middle of it. Yes, Republicans keep changing their story on torture.
First, it was: we didn't torture.
Then it was: OK, we tortured. But it worked!
And now it's: Nancy Pelosi said we could! She said it was OK!
2ND IMPORTANT UPDATE: Maher continues...
I'll tell you who I'm pissed off at. Obama was speaking yesterday, or two days ago, at Arizona State University, and they denied him an honorary degree because "his body of work is yet to come."
This is Arizona State University: the ultimate dumb ass party school? The Harvard of the Senora (sic) Desert? You know when strippers say they're working they're way through college? This is the college! You can have a double major in binging and purging at this school!
But Obama's not good enough for an honorary degree. The first black president of the Harvard Law Review, got more votes than anyone who ever ran for president. He's been on Oprah!
And then to add insult to injury, they asked if he wouldn't mind entering through the kitchen.
Zing!
BREAKING UPDATE III:
Dan Savage is on the panel! And right off the bat, straight out of the park!
Nancy's playing them right now. They're trying to make this an issue about
what Nancy knew, and when Nancy knew it, and that's it! Or, a Dem knew, too, so we're all good, let's drop the whole torture subject, lest Nancy be toppled.
And she said today, I'm for a Truth Commission. Let's get all the facts out, let's get all the facts on the table, and that's going to bite the Republicans in the ass.
And the hits keep coming. To a National Review shill who concluded sort of cavalierly that "he's sure" Nancy Pelosi was briefed on the full details of the Bush torture regime. Cue it up, Savage:
How can you be sure if she was? Because it was the Bush administration in 2001, 2002, and 2003, when they were lying every time they opened their mouths.
