Well, Rob the Welder here, wondering how everyone is feeling ? I broke a tooth. broke my glasses and was lucky enough to be safe from harms way during an explosion while at work. I could claim a bad week, but all in all I am alive and just as honestly it strengthened my opinion that corporate healthcare should have no seat at the table when change is forced.
It has been a glorious month-somehow, Nancy Pelosi set the standard for torture by developing the policy and all the legal briefs that allowed it. I think she also wrote all of Bush and Cheney's speeches that led us to Iraq and Afghanistan . Discouraged is more than just a word, it is a feeling-just like change is an action as much as it is a battle cry. This is my diary, and I hope you don't hate me.
Today starts the trial against Myanmar's opposition leader . I am sure she has a Democratic Congress behind her, like the junta does. Yes, remember how Myanmar was to have trade restrictions against them ? Remember how WE grandfathered in Chevron, so they could continue to give the government of Myanmar Billions ?
Change would be addressing that and addressing Chevron's business practices for good-the good of the world, not the good of some CEO's and stockholders .
This has bothered me for some time, about 2 years to be semi-exact. Executing monks and women and children ? Do we only invade countries who pose a problem to Chevron like Afghanistan ,or do we stand for human dignity ? I realize the people from both countries are brown, so invading on a whim to make sure DuPont and Boeing make some decent cash shouldn't be a problem ? Do we just realize we can't win in South East Asia or are we OK with genocide if the corporate masters ignore it ?
The torture fiasco has beaten me, worse than my broken tooth. Under no search for praise, I served this country as a Marine, honorably and with distinction . I had my commendations framed until my son was born, proud of my service. Now, I just want him to not be so stupid as to think he is fighting for anything other than a corporate profit. Torture has proven to me I may have wasted my vote. Water boarding is illegal, as is any other form of torture-no matter what a legal brief says. Illegal is illegal. If a man fights for his beliefs and is captured, he is to be treated with dignity. I do not agree with extremists and I do not agree with their strict form of religious fervor-but they fought and they should be afforded the dignity of capture.
Silence is ACCEPTANCE ! If nancy Pelosi did know, she should resign and testify. Torture is a slap to my face. It pisses on the memory of my Grandfather , Uncles, Father and cousins who fought to keep this country corporately viable. It takes a shit on the memory of honor and dignity the world over. Torture is unacceptable , it is a deal breaker. A truth commission that ends in no arrests or trials is the same as the laughable impeachment speeches. To call those things hearings is childish.
This is bad for Obama. One can not tout change and run the upper political machine as usual. Take a stand for justice or stop with the entire facade of change. It is just another advertising gimic if it isn't acted upon.
healthcare. What else needs to be said? Corporate Advisors ? Really ? that is change ? That is like getting me to advise my wife on the positive health effects of daily oral sex. it seems to be self serving , possibly even a lie.
But, because we have become Republicrats- no questing OUR leader, it is un-American or even worse, gasp, racist ! Not quite the Glenn Beck Racism , but racist enough. Or, maybe questioning our current Republican/Democrat in office makes us not Democrats.
Feeling as if maybe we were lied to and we wasted our vote not giving it to Ralph Nader makes us morons, I think. Mostly because , just like the loyal little Bushies we support the man, not the actions.
If Obama doesn't start to do something that favors the working class, other than commercial free speeches, 2012 may be retribution. I will not be told a vote for a third party is a wasted vote, ever again.
Because if enough people stand up and show their anger change will come just so the corporate lackies we elect start working for us.
