Or, technically speaking, Art Institute Bridge. Last weekend, the Art Institute of Chicago opened its long-planned Contemporary Art wing. The new wing is a lovely building, and one of its nicest features is a narrow bridge which leaps out from the side of the building, spans the nearby street, and touches down in Millennium Park.
The new wing and the bridge, as seen from Michigan Avenue (about half a block away).
Bridge's end. No pot of gold, alas.
Millennium Park, as seen from high over Monroe Street. And one problem with an airy narrow bridge: It sways, noticeably. Not enough to be uncomfortable, but it's definitely moving.
The Art Institute, from the bridge. Interior photos next week, I hope.
