During an interview with the Pakistan President Zardari, Wolf Blitzer was asking him about recent comments made by Obama during his Press conference by twisting the information. Obama said he was concerned about the fragility of the Pakistani civilian govt to provide basic amenities for its people; instead, Blitzer was claiming it meant that Obama is worried about the stability of the govt to survive.
The President shot back by saying if he plays the rest of the tape, he would get a better explanation of what the President meant. When Wolf decided to press on, he gave the best line of the day that every time they have a dictator in Pakistan, its because its being sponsored by the United States. Wolfe seems stunned and asked if he meant he would blame US for any civilian govt overthrown...and he said he would blame US and every developed nation involved, and then possibly work with them to remedy the situation. SOMEHOW, this part of the EXCHANGE is missing in the TRANSCRIPT on the SITUATION ROOM website.
He was also asked about where the Nukes of Pakistan is, and he said he has already given all the facts that US wants to know. When pressed on the question and after quoting an Obama administration official that said hes concerned but respect Pakistan sovereignty...he answered back by saying that explains it. "I think it's on a need-to-know basis information," he said of the weapons' location. "If it comes up we might and I might not share it with them, it depends." How can we think we can just bully our way to Pakistan giving us all the information they have on their Nuclear Weapons? Because we are funding them?...Well we are funding Israel too and we dont know what they have and how many they have...so there goes the double standard.
But i was very amazed, proud and amazed that the Pakistan President did not back in or back down...he shot back when needed and let the truth be known. I am sure we can all live with that. I doubt Wolfe can live with that.
