The relationship between Israel and the United States is about to get heated with the President of the United States Barack Obama's meet with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Even one of the AIPAC attendees said he was concerned about where the relationship would stand in 1 year after the conference this year. He has a good reason to be concerned and the problem is not the United States, its the choice Israel made or choose to make. As my mother used to say,"You lay on your bed as you prepared it"
The recent report indicated that the Justice Dept have released the 2 Israeli officials that have conspired to steal US documents and pass it over to Israel. According to a report on Prisonplanet, ">Prisonplanet
A US court has formally dropped espionage charges against two pro-Israeli lobbyists amid a scandal that had threatened to expose the extent of Israeli grip on US politics. US District Judge T. S. Ellis on Monday dismissed all charges against former AIPAC lobbyists Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman, three days after Justice Department prosecutors announced that handling the case would require the release of top secret military intelligence and should therefore be shelved.
On CSPAN Washington Journal, a lady was very vocal about this release; amazingly, the US Media rarely covered this information
Given all these past deeds and the present ones, the US administration still agreed to sell Israel the coveted F-35 jets, but the Obama administration have refused to allow access to the computer information, which should be a logical step. This is causing some concern from Israel officials that are probably used to getting their ways.
Accoring to Jpost.com,
A refusal by the United States to allow Israel to repair computer systems in the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is at the heart of disagreements between the Defense Ministry and the Pentagon that have been holding up an official Israeli order for the fifth-generation fighter jet. The JSF, also known as the F-35, is a stealth fighter jet under development by Lockheed Martin. Last year, Israel received approval from the Pentagon to purchase up to 75 aircraft in a deal that could reach close to $20 billion
Why is Israel buying these bombers when the World is seeking Peace and reconciliation is beyond any reasonable soul? They are concerned about the computer information, because they would like to know how to repair the jets in the middle of a War if needed...WHICH WAR??? Thus, the Obama administration is fast becoming the villain in the Israeli Press. This is not surprising. The choice to have no media attendee in the meeting with Peres recently was even considered a slap in the face.
In addition, Jpost.com also reported that
FOR ISRAEL, the main event of the week was supposed to be President Shimon Peres's meeting with Obama on Tuesday. Peres was tasked with calming the waters ahead of Netanyahu's visit. It was hoped that he could introduce a more collegial tone to US-Israel relations. What Israel didn't count on was the humiliating reception Peres received from Obama. By barring all media from covering the event, Obama transformed what was supposed to be a friendly visit with a respected and friendly head of state into a back-door encounter with an unwanted guest, who was shooed in and shooed out of the White House without a sound.
The Israeli had a choice in recent election. Elect a moderate and with Obama, get on the road map to Peace but instead decided to vote for a Right wing that's not seeking Peace or 2 state solution. In Israel, Obama was soundly defeated by almost 50 points, so i dont know why Israel feels its entitled to anything from someone they did not support.
According to an article on Huffpost by Israel Policy Forum:
There can be no doubt: Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu does not much care what President Obama thinks about negotiations with the Palestinians. He seems to be making the same mistake that Obama's opponents in the 2008 election made. He thinks Obama is a lightweight and that he can just roll him.
As US seeks Peace and new documents with the Arabs including the speech he is about to give in Egypt, CNN is reporting that Obama will not make a stop at Israel as if he was elected the Prime Minister of Israel and is indebted to them.
According to Haaretz,
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a group of Russian-language reporters Thursday that Israel will never withdraw from the Golan Heights.
"Remaining on the Golan will ensure Israel has a strategic advantage in cases of military conflict with Syria," Netanyahu said during a briefing he gave to the reporters. His comments were published Friday on several Russian-language Israeli Web sites.
A week-and-a-half out from Netanyahu's scheduled visit to Washington, the prime minister stressed that he is ready to stand up to U.S. President Barack Obama
Just like Carter and a few secretary of State have proposed, its better to seek diplomacy with Iran by engaging and to settle the Palestinian cause. Even Hamas came out recently that they are willing to engage in Peace talks and form coalition government but Israel insist that it will not negotiate with a coalition involving Hamas that won the majority of the election just few years ago. The question is quite simple. With all these disagreements and lack of trust, and Israel's desire to build up on Military arsenals, IS ISRAEL REALLY PREPARING FOR PEACE OR WAR?
I dont know but i hope not because this is Israel's last chance for Peace and Arab reconciliation. They are loosing supports among Americans and the whole world. Maybe i am wrong, and i hope i am. They need to save themselves or risk another decade of war and death with its neighbors.
