I'm surprised this hasn't already been discussed here. Today at the National Press Club Cheney didn't just come out in (tepid) support for marriage equality. He also got in on today's right-wing Freudian slip-a-thon by referring to Osama bin Laden as "Obama."
The kids a TPM saved the video.
You have to wait through most of the video -- the slip comes at 1:40.
Rough transcript:
Q: Why didn't your administration capture Osama bin Laden?
Cheney: I believe he's still out there someplace.... probably buried deep in the ground somewhere hiding.... I don't think he can have much impact because that link between Obama [sic] and the people under him is pretty fragile.
Coming on the heels of Cheney's torture tour and his "there is no middle ground" speech, this slip takes on a pretty nasty flavor. It just makes patently obvious what we could all see over the past weeks: Cheney viscerally hates Obama. He apparently sees Obama as an enemy of the state, classifying him right alongside people who are actually, you know, at war with the United States. That's pretty rich.
Because it was Dick who didn't do a damn thing to prevent the 9/11 attacks, despite intelligence suggesting a pending threat.
It was Dick's pals in the Reagan administration who helped bin Laden and his associates get off the ground in the 1980s.
It was Dick who gave recruiting tools to bin Laden by opening up the prison at Guantanamo, establishing a torture regime, and killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians.
And it was Dick who diverted the US military's attention from Afghanistan, by promoting the illegal and immoral war in Iraq.
Dick Cheney: Go f#*% yourself.
