.
It appears that Ahmadinejad has stolen the Iranian election. Israel's Right Wing Prime Minister, the acerbic Benjamin Netanyahu must be happy. Tomorrow Netanyahu will give a major speech which is likely to defiantly call for a continuation of settlement expansion along the West Bank.
Ahmadinejad's "win" will embolden Netanyahu to virtually sneer at President Obama's peace overtures to the Middle East and the Muslim world. Ahmadinejad's staying in power will make Netanyahu more powerful in Israel.
Netanyahu's assuredly derisive, inflamatory speech tomorrow will bolster Ahmadinejad's credibility with Mousavi supporters, where right now he has as much Bush did with Democrats in Dec '00, Jan '01.
A-jad can only hope that Netanyahu will wax as defiantly as N-yahu hopes A-jad will act (even more) crazy. In sum: Ahmadinejad and Netanyahu need each other.
.
And, of course, American cranks like John Bolton and the entire Fox Clown Parade are certainly relieved that A-jad's stolen this election, as that will give them something about which to stomp and fume and call for bombing Iran.
Short diary, but this, in a nutshell, is the state of things. I'm glad I'm not President right now.
Oh, what could have been . . .
