Breaking rumor! Twitter under control of state department?!

Since rumor mongering is the only news of the sparkly subject of today, i decided to post a tidbit i read on another forum.  The user "Steamcrunk" posted that the state department has been keeping up twitter and preventing it from its scheduled maintenance.

EDIT: Okay, I read the rest of the thread and nobody has mentioned this yet. Twitter was scheduled to go down for maintenance but was stopped from doing so by the State Department. I have a friend who is a semi-muckity-muck at Twitter and he reported the following a few hours ago:

holy loving poo poo, what just happened here...
We said we were going to have maintenance
the people said "no, there is a crisis in iran"
they called our provider and then called the state department
the state department called us and said 'do not go offline.'

Now the link to this forum is http://forums.somethingawful.com/... .  Yes it is somethingaweful.  Yes it is General BullShit.  Yes there are goons.  Literally millions of them.  So take this information as a grain of salt.  Due to it being GBS and not lazyfair i would not try to take this rumor as "the truth" but it could be.  

A lot of people, mostly American idiots, will be flooding Iranian twitter channels.  Fact and fiction will be echoed mostly by those fools over and over again.  Please don't be one of them.  Echoing crap only makes it harder for Iranian dissidents to get important and relevant information.  I only mention this rumor because i haven't seen it echoed at all.
