A while back CNBC ruffled feathers by trying to minimize the greed of corporate CEOs in the crashing of our economy. Luckily, the were called out on it by Jon Stewart. Well, now they are at it again. As if those statements were not ridiculous enough, now they are comparing the Employee Free Choice Act to the elections in Iran.
From the SEIU blog:
CNBC isn't exactly a shining example of responsible journalism. The financial news network has been ridiculed for enabling the financial crisis with flawed reporting and fawning coverage of failed CEOs.
Well, CNBC is at it again. Yesterday, CNBC's Jim Cramer and Erin Burnett made a ridiculous, irresponsible statement. Cramer and Burnett compared the aftermath of Iran's recent election to what would happen under the Employee Free Choice Act.

Watch the video of their ridiculous statements at the link above. Here is what they said:
BURNETT: And it wasn't a secret ballot. I think that's important. They're going to know - they know everybody and how they voted.
CRAMER: Absolutely. BURNETT: It makes a strong point for this whole union conversation we're having in this country. CRAMER: The card check, the card check.
Of course, little things like the truth did not get in their way:
Despite Erin Burnett's delusions otherwise, the Employee Free Choice Act does not take away the secret ballot. To suggest otherwise is just plain wrong.
But to extend that delusion to the Iran election is more than inaccurate. It's irresponsible. It has no place in our national dialogue, and CNBC needs to know that.
Actually, CNBC got it just the opposite, Union elections as set up NOW seem to resemble the elections in Iran, not the Employee Free Choice Act:
Burnett and Cramer need to know that today's union elections are undemocratic. They bear no resemblance to democratically-held elections that we would all recognize in a free country.
The Employee Free Choice Act is an important piece of legislation that reforms the rigged system that prevents employees from having a free choice to improve their lives. The aftermath of the Iran election is proof of what happens when voters don't have a free choice, when the deck is stacked against the electorate.
We need to let CNBC know that we will not accept their corporate propoganda and downright lies about the Employee Free Choice Act. Please join the SEIU and myself in writing CNBC and letting them know that this type of "journalism" which amounts to corporate propoganda is unacceptable:

America needs the Employee Free Choice Act. It would give working Americans the choice of whether to have a secret ballot in union elections, not the big corporations. More union workers will mean higher wages, better healthcare and the reviving of our middle-class. Greed is the only factor for those who attempt to lie to and propogandize Americans against this essential piece of legislation. Lets let everyone know that working Americans will not stand for Corporate talking points being pushed off on America like gospel.
