I found this today! An outline of the GOP Healthcare Plan.
I have posted it here for everyone to get a look at. They have some unusual ideas on how we should cut costs.
In keeping with this Great Countries tradition of Independence and Responsibility for Self we propose the following:
- All Healthcare will be deregulated. This means that we can expect to save billions of dollars due to the fact that MDs and Hospitals and Pharmacies will be able to charge what they think is fair. Bargaining by Insurance companies or Medicare/Medicaid or a Pharmacy will be prohibited as interfering with the free market.
- If for some reason (but we don't expect this to happen) Healthcare costs increase the consumer is responsible for all charges above the amounts paid by Insurance/Medicare/Medicaid.
- Rising Healthcare costs have been exacerbated by irresponsible people who have children without having the 800k dollars in the bank to raise and support them. Therefore Insurance/Medicaid payments for contraceptives will be prohibited. This is to encourage responsible sexual activity only when you can afford to pay for it.
- In the interest of assisting everyone in keeping costs down we will ask that anyone who has relatives in Countries with Universal Healthcare to register at their local Post Office. In the event of an expensive illness we can then assist you in making that long awaited trip to visit with your relatives. In cases of Chronic conditions we may assist with immigration as well.
- We encourage the use of Co-Op care. To encourage the expansion of this method of care we encourage neighborhoods to bond together to hire their own MD. With just an investment of $40 a month per person and 500 of your closest neighbors you may be able to find a MD willing to work for your block. (all labs, drugs, treatments and hospital fees extra)
- The consumer is responsible for chosing a competent MD and a high quality Hospital. There is no excuse for going to the nearest medical facility and accepting care from an ER Doctor on duty who is unfamiliar to you. Therefore the passage of this bill will outlaw malpractice claims and awards. We feel that this will encourage the consumer to take responsibility for the quality of care they recieve.
- Over use of Bankrupcy Law has allowed the irresponsible among us to escape paying for their medical bills. Passage of this bill will limit the ability to use bankrupcy to discharge medical obligations. All persons will be required to pay the first 250k out of pocket due prior to fiing for bankrupcy.
Very interesting. They have a few new ideas here to cut costs.
