In this world full of serious problems , Sarah Palin shines as the queen of tabloid politics...catnip for the media, she knows that personality and gossip/charm can go a long way.
Paris Hilton and her friends became famous for being famous. Watching carefully all along was Sarah Palin...If only she could become famous for being famous...enter John McCain...and there you have it - the birth of the new tabloid politics queen...
Do issues matter? of course not...
Why couldn't she answer the question about what she reads? isn't it obvious that if she told the truth ( National Enquirer, Star mag, etc.) it would give it away.
This is the reason for this whole David Letterman fiasco - Palin sees this as the perfect tabloid politics issue. ...and the analysts are in agreement that her approach should be to bone up on real issues, but there she goes again...
getting upset at who said what. That is the real damage she is self inflicting - she is reinforcing her image as a no-nothing tabloid politician. I suspect the Letterman incident will cause much more damage than she realizes.
Fist impressions are hard to change, and if they are reinforced they become nearly impossible. For Sarah Palin, the Letterman incident indicates she doesn't fully understand how she is doing this to herself. Forever looking to blame someone else, Sarah Palin is destined to be the queen of tabloid politics - who needs the National Enquirer when Sarah gives it to you 24/7 for free.
Quite a spectacle indeed.
