The government continues to act contrary to the will of the majority. The voice of the people must be heard. Corrupt forces are running rampant picking the pockets of the people. The people are suffering injury and death as a result of those defending the status quo. Powerful forces have taken control of the media message; slogans are used to simplify political messages and confuse the public.
It is time to bring down the powerful healthcare Ayatollahs.
I just listened to Sen. Lindsey Graham on ABC's This Week declare the public option in healthcare dead as of this week. Unfortunately he may be right. Not just a single-payer system mind you but now even the tepid "public option" half-measure is being labeled with the tired memes as too expensive, government-run (read horrifying), socialist healthcare. It makes me sick to my stomach to relive the Clintonian failures in healthcare reform for the simple reason that for this 53-year-old unemployed diabetic guy it could be a matter of sight or blindness, a matter of mobility or amputation, or a matter of life or death.
The blithe way public healthcare options are being dismissed in the public debate, in spite of public opinion to the contrary, is just the same old game of paying off the powerful and corrupt and picking my pocket to do it. Public opinion is not being heard. How do we overcome these interests? Is it time to shout from the rooftops at night? Is it time for the "Million Patient March?" Is it time to dissolve the US Senate?
The public needs to act now if public healthcare is to be enacted in our lifetimes.
