Well, round three is starting for the DFA Netroots Nation Scholarships, so the begging diaries are also beginning for those of us who did not win in rounds one and two.
That said, the round two winners included a couple of my favorites (go Kim and Heather!) so it was not a total loss for me. However, it still won't get me to Pittsburgh to meet them in person. You can help with that. If you want to skip the rest of this diary, my sig line in the tip jar has the link to my page.
I am a remnant of the 60's, having worked in the civil rights and anti-war movements. I have been posting diaries here since August 3, 2008 (I got curious recently and checked) after getting my first computer Memorial Day week-end. During this year I have written about many things, but mostly consider myself a writer about healthcare and mental health issues, and about Israel and Palestine, including particularly the Israeli peace movement. If I were to summarize my feelings about I/P, it would be that both sides have suffered greatly, and both sides have inflicted great suffering. I also work hard to keep the discourse civil.
You know how to find my diaries if you don't know me. There also are a couple of links to my diaries on my application page. I also post over at Street Prophets, did some Off The Bus (Huffington Post) pieces during the campaign. Recently I started to write at Associated Content where I have gotten paid miniscule amounts that so far total over $60. (I wanted to be a writer when I was in HS, and got paid for writing for the first time at age 61. Life is full of surprises.)
Here is the link to my page. You can vote for more than one person, so browse and find some more Kossacks to vote for as well. We are a very interesting group of people.
