It has already been widely reported that Scott Roeder, the man arrested for the assassination of Dr. George Tiller, had previously been arrested when authorities found explosives in a search of his car. According to CNN, Roeder's ex-wife says now that he had a target in mind:
In 1996, [Roeder] was arrested in Topeka, Kansas, with explosives, a military rifle, ammunition and a gas mask in his car, according to records.
His ex-wife said that at that time he intended to blow up an abortion clinic.
CNN also adds to the picture of Roemer as an involved member of Kansas anti-abortion groups, becoming "a regular" at actions against clinics. (We also know he was involved in vandalizing a clinic the day before the Tiller murder.) And then there's this:
Eugene Frye, who says he has known Roeder for years as an anti-tax campaigner, said just Roeder showed up at a recent abortion protest talking about this year's trial of Tiller, whom Frye called the "killer." Tiller was acquitted in March of 19 misdemeanor counts of performing unlawful procedures at his clinic, and Frye said Roeder told him he had attended the trial.
