So I was just over at everyone's favorite tabloid site, HuffPo, and I happened upon an interesting little nugget. They linked to a CNN story about reading, and how President Obama has a lot of reading to do if he wants to keep pace with his predecessor.
The story here.
So the President is on pace to finish only 10 books this year. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that he is ACTUALLY DOING HIS JOB!
The former Idiot in Chief took pride in his love of reading, and had a running competition with Karl Rove. In 2006 he nearly beat Ol' Turdblossom by reading 95 books to Rove's 110, a feat he should have accomplished considering that most of the books he read contained very large print and pictures on every page.
It all makes perfect sense when you think about it. When you spend as much time on vacation as Bush did, you're going to have plenty of time to read. He even managed to find the time to read the Bible, every year.
I, for one, find it refreshing that President Obama isn't reading as many books as his predecessor. To me it means that he actually takes his job seriously, and is focused on running the country(Not to mention, spending time with his family). I'm sure he does plenty of reading, but his reading probably consists of important things like daily security briefings, reports from the commanders on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan, a few diaries on The Great Orange Satan(one can dream)and maybe a chapter or two of "Netherland" before turning in at night.
Kudos to President Obama, for saving a leisure time activity for leisure time.
