In public the GOP on the Hill are putting up false faces. They appear to be restrained in the language they use about Supreme Court Judge nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, but in private meetings, they are asking Rush and his ilk to continue their racists and hateful talk.
This Hill article http://thehill.com/... spells out exactly how an aide to Mitch McConnell is holding meetings to continue this facade.
That these cowardly men would encourage the nasty and hateful lies about this woman, who worked hard to achieve what she has, is rephrensible. They should be called on it. They hide behind the skirts of the likes of Rush, Tancredo and Miranda, to do their dirty work, all the while hoping that Hispanics would separate them from the talking heads. No. They are all in it together.
It's the same old bit and switch, bad cop, good cop routine. And they should be exposed for their hypocrisy.
I hope that Rachel or Keith can zero in on this tonight. Mitch McConnell should be asked to explain why his aide is privately asking their people to distort the record of the judge, while also being insulting and disrespectful. He should be asked point blank if he believes the judge is a racist.
I know that everyone believes that she is going to get confirmed. But that does not mean she should be maligned and disrespected mostly by the men we see trotted out daily (with talking points) with approval of the GOP to continue their despicable lies and hateful rhetoric.
"Swann told us she wanted to encourage all of us in our talking points and that we’re having traction among Republicans and unnerving Democrats," said an attendee of Wednesday’s weekly meeting hosted by Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform.
Newt Gingrich supposedly has come out and taken his words back. How many people believe that he is being honest?
Senate Democrats should push to have this confirmation done before congressional recess. It is clear that the goal of the Republicans is to taint the judge, despite knowing that she is going to be confirmed.
We shouldn't allow them to do that.
