After seeing the following story, I have come to the conclusion that there are Serious defects in security procedures at the nation's airports.
A concealed weapon (gun) was carried on a US Airways jet in Philadephia. This seems almost unthinkable after all of the tightening of security following 9/11, doesn't it? This was not a reporter or a security official looking for defects in security but a person trying to figure a way to get a gun to his move to Phoenix. The gun was smuggled in by an airline employee who does not have to be screened!! UGH!! Talk about a major hole in the screening system..
from http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...
Customer service agent Roshid Milledge switched black carry-on bags with passenger Damien Young at the gate so Young could board the 7 a.m. flight to Phoenix with the unloaded 9 mm weapon, the FBI said in an affidavit.
Young, 29, was moving to Phoenix and had asked Milledge about the procedures for transporting guns. Milledge, 38, instead agreed to carry the bag through an employee entrance so it would not be screened by security.
If employee's cars and bags are not required to be searched on a routine basis, then there is a major flaw! Instead of tossing out shaving cream cans (which happend to me), or baby bottles, maybe employees bags should at least go through a metal detectors.
I think this is a MAJOR WAKE UP CALL TO TSA!!
