Fire Fighters' Endorsement
The Boise Fire Fighters' Union announced their support of TJ Thomson for Boise City Council this week. "From his work as president of the student council at BSU to his career with NASA, TJ has shown an ability to work hard at improving organizations from the top down," said Local #149 Secretary-Treasurer, Jim Walker. "We think he brings tremendous energy to the City Council" Citing Thomson’s "practical idealism", Walker said, "TJ Thomson and fire fighters have a shared vision for Boise that goes well beyond public safety. Fire fighters are also citizens and we, too, want a strong economy, good schools, safe streets, affordable health care, and a clean environment. TJ is the man who can lead this city in the right direction. We’re going to be with him every step of the way," Walker said of the union’s support for Thomson. "We want him to accomplish his vision for Boise ."
Thomson said he was honored by the endorsement. "The safety of the citizens of Boise will always be my highest priority, if elected," he said.
Mayor Shows Leadership and Vision During State of the City
Following the Mayor’s State of the City Address today in Boise, TJ released this statement, "Once again, Mayor Dave Bieter is showing true leadership by looking to the future, rather than the past, to develop strong, innovative ideas that will benefit the City of Boise. From the new Green House startup incubator center to the L.E.D. street lights upgrade program, Mayor Bieter is thinking outside-the-box to develop workable solutions that benefit not only our community, but our environment. I applaud Dave Bieter for his work as Mayor and would be honored to join him in the City Council as we continue to build workable solutions to strengthen and diversify our local economy, improve upon our incomparable quality of life, and build viable transportation alternatives for the future."
