There are priorities during the summer, and then there are priorities. With Washington DC's August shutdown for vacation just over 2 weeks away, suddenly Congress realizes that .... they can't come up with anything that they want to admit to have been working on during the preceding half year they've had to screw around on it!

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama's overhaul of the nation's health systems is unlikely to be completed by the White House's August deadline, lawmakers said Sunday as Congress turns its attention to other priorities.
And Silent Sebelius finally speaks (over the flip):
"I think everything is on the table and discussions are under way,"
Hey, ya think ?
You know what I think ?
You don't have enough brains the Creator gave a gnat if you think the Republicans are going to come back from Summer Recess refreshed, reinvigorated, and suddlenly giving a flying rat's patootie that Americans are dying from lack of affordable treatment, because you were really nice to the Republican Party. And you are head of Health and Human Services, or Health and Human Disservices, which was it again, the Cabinet post, or the passive observer of the totally profit driven corporate model of buying the House and Senate to be able to run a Ponzi scheme on the entire American public ? Shouldn't you at least try not to sound exactly like a this is akin to making a dessert selection at Hometown Buffet?
Could we possibly have some gravitas here ?
Here's their most pathetic ever excuse:
But the White House's strategy to leave the legislative back-and-forth to Congress has produced varying and sometimes contradictory versions of health care legislation _ along with delays. As the Senate turns its attention to Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor's confirmation hearings, the focus will turn away from Obama's top domestic priority.
OMFG ! WE, AS A NATION, CANNOT MULTI -TASK !
WE'VE NEVER SEEN A GIRL SUPREME COURT JUSTICE BEFORE, EITHER !
oh, wait. we did. twice.
BUT OMFG ! A DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT IS APPOINTING ONE!
So... what. She's not even really liberal, for ****'s sake.
MUST we always give into the Republican's tendancies to want to be drama queens about everything? Do you idiots really think that the GIRL JUSTICE is such a bizarre novelty that the entire viewing nation is going to be glued to the TV screen for the rest of the year?
So you would put off health insurance reform during the Obama administration for this?
Do you, the Democratic establishment in DC, really expect anyone to take you seriously at this point? Because 2 weeks ago it was 'teh gay rights' thingie had to be put off this year because it would be a distraction for Health insurance reform. Before that it was The Budget and the DOD Appropriations. Before that it was the Senate couldn't stop a filibuster. Before that it was the Senate didn't have a majority. Before that it was the House didn't have a majority. Before that it was The President wasn't the Same Party.
Before that, it was Christopher Columbus hadn't gotten funding from Queen Isabella for the exploratory run to the next continent.
Does God eat a Lobbyist's kitten every time the netroots start watching the legislative process ?
So you all approve of the health insurance industry selling a product that they then don't deliver, while deliberately working the rules to creating shortages so the price of the product keeps skyrocketing? Can you look at 1/5 of Americans in the world's alleged mightiest superpower and say, oh well, their Manifest Destiny is to go into debt to create interest payments for the ruling classes to live on?
You had to provide cover, once again, to the Republican Party?
Republicans, seizing on an issue that affects all Americans and has shown a glimmer for hope for an out-of-power political party, have lambasted the proposals as rash and irresponsible. They also see the issue as a way to win House and Senate seats in the 2010 midterm elections.
"I think the bigger issue here is why are we going to increase spending and health care by $1 trillion, $2 trillion, $3 trillion?" said Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H. "Most of which we can't afford, add that to the debt or add it the tax burden of the American people. Why don't we approach this horse from the other end?"
This is the ONLY spending that is being portrayed in this manner. Anything else, you can't throw the money at it fast enough.
"There is no chance that it's going to be done by August," said Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz, speaking on ABC's "This Week." "President Obama was right about one thing: He said if it's not done quickly, it won't be done at all.
"Republicans are dedicated to reform, but we don't like the idea of spending and taxing and creating more deficit... "
HE'S IN THE WRONG LINE OF WORK- The Republican Party can't get it through their thick skulls that if you only keep giving TAX CUTS to everybody you cannot perform any other function of government. The private sector has failed.
No, damn it, they are not "serious" about reform, they had an 8 year opportunity and all they did was create a Bush Cheney Banana Republic.
QUIT ENABLING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. THEY LOST. YOU WON. GET TO WORK. YOU DON'T DESERVE A VACATION.
And if you want the Obama administration to be a one term failure, this is exactly how to go about obtaining that objective.
