Rick Perry, the dumbass Governor of Texas was once talking about having Texas leave the United States:
But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot," Perry said Wednesday.
But NOW, he's begging the Obama administration for cash.
Talk about having a pie on your face. This guy needs an entire Entenmann's bakery dropped on him.
First, the second dumbass leader of Texas rejected $555 million dollars in Recovery Act money to cover the costs of unemployment in Texas:
"During these tough times, Texas employers are working harder than ever to move products to market, make payroll and create jobs," Perry said at a news conference. "The last thing they need is government burdening them with higher taxes and expanded obligations."
He did that, even though his own unemployment commissioner said this:
Perry's decision comes despite warnings from Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Tom Pauken that the state's unemployment compensation trust fund could be operating at a deficit by October. Pauken told lawmakers recently that insolvency might not be not far behind.
Well, Governor Assnuts is now so fucked, he's going hat in hand to the very country he wanted to secede from. The very administration that he said was thumbing their nose at his beloved Texans:
Texas has known for months that the funds to pay unemployed Texans were running dry.
"The balance is depleting faster than we expected," Texas Workforce Commission officer Ann Hatchitt said.
Texas is now asking the federal government for a $170 million loan so that benefits keep getting paid.
"This is nothing out of the ordinary. We're following protocol that we put in place," said Governor Rick Perry.
Following the protocol? In what sort of protocol does turning down $555 million of free money make more sense than borrowing $170 million?
Democrats in Texas are pouncing:
"That $555 million would that would have come with the stimulus money wouldn't have to be paid back to the federal government and that would have saved business taxpayers money for the next 20 years," said Rep. Mark Strama, D-Austin.
What does Governor Teabags have to say to that?
"They are shortsighted and probably criticizing for a political reason rather than a legitimate financial reason," Gov. Perry said.
Governor Rick Perry rejected federal stimulus money that would have replenished the fund. Financial reasons highlight the fact that this loan would be one of many.
"We are expecting to need to borrow about $650 million from the federal government through October 1st, to pay for unemployment benefits", Hatchitt said.
The state is doing this to insure Texans who deserve help are able to get it.
I love comeuppance!
The Obama Administration should REJECT Perry's request, and instead make it clear that Texas is a "very unique place" indeed. I'm sure they can find the money themselves, being such an "independent lot."
Drill baby drill!
