This is a plea to you to stop lollygaging and pass some real health care reform. Us normal folk are hurting really bad out here. Every objection raised by the republicans and your conservative democratic breatheren is BUNK. And not just normal bunk, but super over the top BUNK.
A government plan would ration health care?
Tell that to my stepfather who has congestive heart failure and has to wait 2 months to see a cardiologist because the plan we are on only lets you see approved specialists and there are very few approved local cardiologists.
Tell that to my Mother who is diabetic and had to wait almost three months to see a liver specialists when she developed liver problems related to her diabetes.
A government plan would be unresponsive to patients getting between the doctor and their patient.
Private plans already do this with their pre-existing condition clauses, limits on who you can see. How long you are alowed to stay in the hospital based on procedure performed regardless of individual circumstances. which doctors you can and can't see.
My step father just finished two stints in the hospital the past two months for congestive heart failure. The first weeklong stay ended up costing 50,000$. Medicare and my mothers insurance through her employer will pick up most of that cost fortunately. Yet we still don't know exactly how much out of pocket we will be paying on that first bill as the insurance companies and medicare are still arguing over who gets billed for what and how much. And you call single payer option worse than what we have now?
Even if you are fortunate like my family is and have coverage it is a red tape nightmare worse than anything I have experienced from any of the government services I have had to use over the years.
My mother has to work at a job just so they have insurance as it would be almost impossible for them to afford private insurance if they could even get it. It is probably going to put her in an early grave as the job is very stressful and can be fairly demanding physically too. If it were not for the health issue she could retire as her social security and my stepfathers retirement are more than ample to provide for their needs. Their house is all paid for.
My families situation is hardly unique and yet you sit there with your A+++ coverage provided for by the government and try and tell us change from the current system would be bad? At this point even the limp public option being bandied about would be an improvement over the current system.
Get off your buts and give us real healthcare reform before it kills us.
P.S. Both my step father and mother are currently ok as can be given their health conditions. It is just so infuriating dealing with multiple insurance companies and having to see these knownothings on TV blather on and on about something they obviously know nothing about.
