After declaring that birthers "have a point" and that he doesn't "discourage" the Obama birthplace conspiracy theorists, U.S. Senator (it is painful to say that!) James Inhofe (R-OK) admitted -- through a spokesman -- that he does not question President Obama's legitimacy as President of the United States of America.
Inhofe's office only conceded the point after Greg Sargent doggedly pursued the loony-tunes Oklahoma Senator for comment.
The truly amazing thing, however, is that Inhofe -- after claiming that birthers "have a point" and refusing to "discourage them" -- actually blames President Obama for the nutso conspiracy theory:
The point that they make is the Constitutional mandate that the U.S. President be a natural born citizen, and the White House has not done a very good job of dispelling the concerns of these citizens.
Inhofe, suffice it to say, is full of crap. The White House -- and the Obama campaign before it -- has thoroughly debunked these conspiracy theories to the satisfaction of independent observers.
Meanwhile, the irony remains that John McCain was actually born overseas, in the Panama Canal Zone, although nobody seriously questioned his legitimacy as a potential president.
