The Justice department is refusing to release notes taken during Cheney's interview on the Plame outing. Clearly he was involved if not in charge, and yet the reason cited for withholding this information is eerily similar to the one given by the Bush administration - that it would discourage future administration officials to grant interviews without having to issue subpoenas.
This is the latest in a series of questionable decisions by Obama, most predominantly the failure to investigate Bush's torture policies. It is puzzling why a Constitutional scholar like Obama would let such an egregious power grab under Cheney's orchestration go unchallenged.
While the idea of sticking Cheney's ass in jail where it belongs is appealing, the more critical issue here is whether Obama is as principled as we thought he was. As an outspoken supporter of his from the beginning, I am having my doubts.
