One of the reasons the insurance companies are getting away with their buy out of Congress and the Senate (yes, I mean you god-forsaken Blue-Dogs) is that despite all our rhetoric, there has been very little display on television of the insurance industry's decision-making process - the way in which they maximize shareholder value by essentially killing people. This is a right to life issue if you will...
I think it's time for Congress to hold public hearings, invite these insurance executives to meet the people whose claims they have denied and explain why they are making profits on the backs of the suffering (and deaths) of others. Makes for good TV, you betcha.
BTW, has anyone noticed how quiet our churches are? They don't believe in health care for people, especially poor people. Why are they so silent? Are they getting donations from the insurance industry as well.
