To all appearances, it looks like Health Care is floundering in the Congress with many incompatible proposals vying for passage, conservative and liberal caucuses drawing lines in the sand against each other. Now it appears the tactic of delay has been successfully used. The Conservatives will use their considerable political tools to inundate the airwaves with fear ads to derail the public support for such proposals.
If we want to win this war, we have to step it up NOW!!!
more below the fold.
The way I see it, it is going to take as much effort to get this passed as it took to get Obama in the White House. If this issue is as important to you then you must fight. Fight as the future of our country depends on it. We must be like the founding fathers of our country that pledged their lives, honor and fortune for the idea of a new democracy.
While there are many organized efforts to get this or that bill passed and campaigns here organized to call and mobilize people, I don't feel an over arching sense of unity of purpose like there was in the election campaign.
What I feel it's going to take is for the President to take back the reigns of this fight. Because so far, what I see coming out of Congress is a big mess. Which in one sense is a conservative strategy, to hand them something that is so messy, that it would be better to have no change at all. This is not acceptable.
There needs to be a war chest the size of the election funds. Will Penny Pritzker step up to organize that?
There needs to be powerful ads to counter the massive blitzkrieg we know is coming from the conservatives. Will David Axelrod step up and manage that?
There needs to be a singular bill that represents real change that includes
*Portability
*Affordable
*Covers Every One not just 95%
*Comprehensive and eliminates exclusions
*Requires private insurers to do the same
Will President Barack Obama step up and announce this plan?
There needs to be discipline in the Party about supporting this vote and severely punishing anyone in the party who would dare oppose the President's vision. Will Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the Whips step up and grow a pair? Because failure here is their failure and failure for the future of our country.
There needs to be a groundswell the likes of which make the Obama campaign look like small potatoes. Will WE step up and do our part? Stake our Lives, our Reputations, our Fortunes on this?
I don't want this to be a squeeker, I don't want this to be a hodge podge bill that is in danger of being scraped. I want real change, real irrevocable change that leads to lesser costs, better outcomes. That frees us from the yoke of tyranny at the hands of these institutions.
