Crap human!

How do you threaten a Senator, a talk show host, a political hack, without seeming to threaten? By that I mean, without seeming to be breaking a law. How do you break someone's nose in the House or Senate without actually doing it? How can you get information that will force compliance?
Where do you get Leverage on an idiot or an intelligent person, a criminal or an honest man when you aren't a constituent or lobbyist? Where does the gossip really come from? Everyone has SOME skeleton. How do you dig up the corpse?
How do you get the news? If, say, you are Rupert Murdoch and you really want the leverage on people?
Well, you COULD just tap anyone's phone that you found to be interesting...

And on and on...
News of the World, Britain's biggest-selling newspaper featuring the best news, showbiz and sport exclusives - updated 24/7. Murdoch's first paper in Britain. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/
The News of the World is a British tabloid newspaper published every Sunday. It is published by News Group Newspapers of News International, itself a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, and can be considered the Sunday equivalent of The Sun. The newspaper tends to concentrate on celebrity-based scoops and populist news. Its fondness for sex scandals gained it the nicknames "Sex 'n' Scandal weekly", "News of the Screws" and "Screws of the World". http://en.wikipedia.org/... On July 8th 2009, The Guardian reported News Group, the News of the World's parent company, paid out more than £1m to settle legal cases that threatened to reveal evidence of News of the World journalists using criminal methods (accessing mobile phone voicemails of various public figures) to obtain stories. The article further reports sources as stating that News Group staff used private investigators to access several thousand mobile phone accounts.
Why should we be interested in a scandal involving a paper in the UK? Because the paper is Murdoch's, like FOX is Murdoch's, like Palin and Teabagger Parties and Page Three Girls are Murdoch's. This is the MO of Murdoch.
Of course, I can think what I want, it's a free world, and Murdoch denies everything. No doubt the liberals are out to get him.
LONDON, July 9 (UPI) -- Rupert Murdoch, owner of Britain's News International, denied his company paid more than $1 million to settle claims of tapping politicians' phones.
"If that had happened, I would have known about it," Murdoch said in an interview, The New York Times reported Thursday.
The head of Scotland Yard, Paul Stephenson, said he assigned an investigator to look into the allegations after The Guardian reported police found evidence "thousands" of cell phones were tapped by private investigators used by reporters from News of the World, a News International newspaper.

Thousands, THOUSANDS of cell phones. Takes a lot of power and money to do anything on a scale of dozens, but thousands? Murdoch is, in my opinion, bad news. His empire is bad news. Murdoch need to be brought down, his empire broken up, and those has-been scandal mongers on FOX need to get jobs as street sweepers.
That's all. My opinion.
What do other people think of Rupert Murdoch?
The Sun and George W. Bush
The Sun has backed almost every Bush initiative and played down every embarrassment. For example, when the images of torture in Abu Ghraib were front page news, The Sun buried it on page 6, with less than a 1/4 page, 130 words and a teeny-tiny picture. The next day, leading with George W. Bush's version of events, they used 229 words. And that was about it. (A week or so later, a Labrador puppy was thrown off an overpass and The Sun was there with a massive 3/4 page and 270 words. The poster for the ensuing campaign to catch the evildoers is still online if you wish to see it.) When George W. Bush invited himself to the UK for an unprecedented and very unpopular state visit, he gave only one interview - to The Sun. Yes, this most conservative of presidents - keen to wage a war on porn granted the exclusive to his most effective mouthpiece, tits or no tits.

The 2003 Sexual Offenses Act finally put paid to The Sun's famous / infamous Page 3 topless girls that had at times featured topless and sexually explicit snaps of girls as young as 15 including the most famous-Samantha Fox who first appeared at age 16. Although Page 3 girls live on, they are now over the legal age for publication, 18.

I don't like Murdoch, and what Murdoch has done to reporting. It used to be, if you wanted tales of baby alien Elvis you would get a trash sheet in the supermarket checkout aisle. Now FOX and Friends beam it direct to the living room and the coffee shop and the bank waiting room. The WSJ has Murdoch opinions on the Editorial pages. Other networks have had to become more sensational just to keep up with the degradation!
I think it's time to take out the trash. But that's just me, harmless lovable little pansy fuzzball me.
Maybe not everything is happy fluffy in Rupert Land though...
Rupert Murdoch's Fascist Propaganda Empire Facing Difficulties
News Corp, Rupert Murdoch's loony rightist propaganda empire is in trouble. Let's play our tiniest violins for this one. (Thanks to Pirate Satellite for calling this to my attention.)
From Adweek 2/6/09:
NEW YORK News Corp. has reported a loss of $6.42 billion in the final three months of 2008, as the media conglomerate was forced to take an $8.4 billion write-down on its TV and newspaper assets.
