A new Rasmussen reports poll show that Republicans are now trusted more than Democrats on eight out of ten key issues. The most striking as that Republicans have gained a 46%-41% lead on the key issue of the economhttp://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/trust_on_issues/trust_

This is probably the first time since 1980's that Republicans were more trusted than Democrats on the economy. Republicans are even trusted by a 42%-37% margin over Democrats on Social Security, even ater Republicans attempted to gut the system and surely will if they gain control of Congress.
The problem for Democrats is that Obama inherited an economy that is fatally sick for the long term. Unemployment is now at 9.5% and will likely remain at around this rate or higher for many years. The voters now blame Obama and the Democrats for not being able to turn the economy around and are likely to vote Democrats out of office in droves in 2010. Democrats already trail in the three marquee races of 2009(NJ-GOV, VA-GOV, and NYC-MAYOR) almost certainly because of the issue of the economy. I predicted that all of this would happen.
Obama's rating is likely to keep falling as long as we are losing jobs and the unemployment rate is rising. The American people have no more patience. This is Obama's economy now unfortunately and he will have to fix it. Democrats need to get together right now and prepare for a very nasty election cycle in 2010. Republicans are taking advantage of this by recruiting many very tough candidates in a lot of key House races and Democrats are going to need everything they have to survive 2010 without major losses. Unions, NCEC, DNC, and even Obama need to do everything possible to prepare for a very bad election cycle. I dont want to hear more mocking in the comments such as "the sky is falling" or "were doomed!!" as if everything was OK. We need to stick together because these are some very tough times ahead. We need to start setting up GOTV operations now in key races to survive. This is the first time this year that I feel that my fear has spread to other key Democratic officials.
