No one else seems to have diaried this, and, IMNSHO, Robert Scheer's column in 'The Nation' today is too important to go without notice at DKos.
The money quote:
Perhaps if McNamara had been held legally accountable for his actions, the architects of the Iraq debacle might have paused.
What else is there to say? BushCo MUST be prosecuted, en masse, or we WILL have another regime like the one that preceded Obama's Administration.
Nixon SHOULD have been prosecuted, and his savior knew it:
I know I will go to hell, because I pardoned Richard Nixon.
— Gerald Ford, as quoted by Hunter S. Thompson
McNamara SHOULD have been prosecuted. Why does this keep happening? Because we've given them the idea that they are IMMUNE from prosecution! And until we start DEMANDING accountability, they will continue to act with impunity.
Sorry for the short diary; I was surprised no one better qualified has written a diary in response to Scheer's very solid reporting.
