Fact 1 - Rudy 9/11,9/11,9/11 Guiliani says a massive wealth transfer from "rich to poor" is taking place and that people who earn $250,000 + are "really struggling". He also hopes health care reform fails.
GIULIANI: We already have major distribution of wealth going on in this country. ... Redistribution of wealth, from rich to poor. The rich pay — the so-called rich. We’re talking about $250,000 or more in New York City. I know this is hard for people to understand. These people sometimes are two-earner families. They’re really struggling
thinkprogress.org
So, Rudy G declares more class war.
My suggestion: Eat the rich.
Exemption for Eating the Rich will be allowed for those who earn above $250,000k on proof of empathy.
The fact is, the Wealthy Corporatists hate spending because it leads to taxes, which they can easily afford, but never mind that. I got mine, you can go fuck yourself. That seems to be the GOP plan, and it has been for the last 90 years.
They don't want health care reform, or anything at all, since they can afford it, so why can't you.
They have NO IDEA what real Struggling is.
Go cry me a fucking river banker boy. You want to see struggling? It ain't paying more for first class, it ain't having your taxes go up 3%, it ain't having the taxpayers pay for your bailout bonus. It is living in a tent under a bridge.
Jeeves! Get me my tiny violin!
Fact 2: Tent cities growing at alarming rate. Rich get richer, poor still getting poorer.
Of course, none of these people and many others can not afford health care. Doomed to watch themselves and their loved ones fall sick with no social safety net, this is what suffering really looks like.
This is footage shot in New york City on during a Tent City Action organized by Picture the Homeless on 7/23/09, at 115th St. between Fifth and Madison, NYC. Of course, Rudy Guiliani can't see this from the penthouse overlooking Central Park that his type are used to.
More from Picture The Homeless
Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a Guiliani endorsed Multi Billionaire who is the 6th wealthiest person in America, has proposed a plan to address New York Cities homeless. The plan is to fly the homeless out of the New York City to anywhere else.
NEW YORK (AP) - New York City is buying one-way plane tickets for homeless families to leave the city.
It’s part of a Bloomberg administration program to keep the homeless out of the expensive shelter system, ,which costs $36,000 a
year per family. More than 550 families have left the city since 2007. All it takes is for a relative to agree to take them in.
The city employs a travel agency for domestic travel and the Department of Homeless Services handles international travel.
City officials say there are no limits on where a family can be sent and families can reject the offer.
Families have been sent to 24 states and five continents, mostly to Puerto Rico, Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.
City officials say none of the relocated families have returned to city shelters.
That is what struggling looks like.
This tragedy is not confined to New york City. Tent Cities exist everywhere. In Sacremento, California, the tragedy has reached a critical mass. My hat tip goes out to Mayor Kevin Johnson, who's ability on the NBA basketball court is dwarfed by his heart and political acumen.
This should be your next Governor of California, people.
I can not begin to diary all of the stories of tent cities. Suffice it to say that many of these stories go untold, sadly, as many of these individuals and families struggle and are heard from by no one. Many people would rather ignore how bad this has gotten. Connecticut, Seattle, Nashville, Ohio, Michigan, everywhere. People are struggling, and not the "I make more than $250,000 woe is me" type of struggling.
So, what about those struggling families earning over $250,000 a year? How does their stuggling compare to say, everyone else?
Fact 3 - The real transfer of wealth has been from poor to rich. For the last 40 + years. In fact, it's never been a better time to be filthy rich.
As you can see in the graph below, many people live in poverty compared to the few wealthy. Mind you, this graph does not include the Capitalist class of the top 2%
This next graph shows how income has grown by percentiles over the last few years. Notice anything?
That's right. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
If this is your first time, welcome to Class War 101.
So, there is your evidence. The few rich keep getting richer, the poor stay poor, and lose their home and get shit, while the bonuses go up and up. The great transfer of wealth has obviously been from poor to rich, but for the greedy, enough is never enough.
Of course, the money trolls cry about bailouts but don't say anything about soaring CEO salaries or bonuses given out by bailed out TBTF vampire banks that dwarf their profits.
But, as for the vast majority of Americans who do not suffer the burden of earning over $250,000 a year, their suffering can not be measured against the suffering of the wealthy who must do without that second bottle of champagne. The suffering of the wealthy person who can't take that next vacation this year means nothing nothing compared to the suffering of a family that must choice between a home or a check up for their kids.
To even insinuate the equivalency of the two is an insult to every American who wasn't born burdened under a wealthy householld where the silver spoon is waiting and the best opportunities money can buy.
I wish we were getting a single payer plan that would cover all Americans no matter what their social standing, but, realistically, we must fight for our lives for a robust public option. It is literally a matter of life or death.
So while millionaire Hannity and Rudy 9/11,9/11,9/11 sneer down from their penthouse view, they should know that the class war is brewing below them. If they were smart or empathetic they would have compassion, because soon eat the rich will start sounding like a better idea than to be eaten by them.
But don't tell the people in First Class that. They wouldn't understand.
