Yesterday we held the 2nd Single Payer Happy Hour. Last time we were 5. This time we were 8 people. 60% growth. Next time on August 28 attendance will explode. So join us!
We all agreed that many more cars honked this time.
We didn't get a friendly black and white from LAPD this time like the one that kept a watchful eye on us last time during our 1st Happy Hour. But a helicopter did fly over us.
I suspect that our little events at Califa and Topanga Cny Blvd in the Warner Center Park may be the first demonstrations of any sort ever there.
We all agreed that it was as if we were on a "Speakers Corner".
We had a great time. And we got some people to notice. Pris from LA and I have been organizing the Single Payer Happy Hour for 2 months now. We love to keep the momentum going. If you can spread the word about our Single Payer - Healthcare for All event we would be very thankful.
This "healthcare speakers corner" can be ours on the last Friday of each month. Right next to several major health insurance companies headquarters. Eventually we'll get there.
Below is a picture of the original Hyde Park Speakers Corner on a busy day. I lived in London for almost one year. I visited Speakers Corner as often as possible. One of the most inspiring places in the world.
Greg took the photos, he was #8, a passer by. He joined us for the better part of one hour. There was also Mr. Grumpy who showed up to for the 2nd time to tell us that he hoped the Obama initiative did not pass.
Here is another picture of sleepy Warner Center Park, our Speakers Corner is to the left. Walking distance from Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Health Net and other HMO headquarters.
